Long Island (2018)

These four photographs taken over the summer of 2019 represent the suspended sense of time in my grandparents’ house. Even though a lot of things have changed over the past few years, it will always be the same. It’s the same tiles in the hallway even though papers scatter over them, the same golden light that comes through my mom’s window around 5pm, the same oil tanks that I always pass by on the way to the train. My grama apologizes to me as I leave the house to go home because things are not exactly like they used to be. But, to me, they are. I’ve always gone to Long Island to visit my grandparents ever since I was little. They have a beautiful house and a garden which I’ve always loved to spend time in and admire. Over the past few years, life has progressively gotten harder for my grandparents. Clutter of paperwork has filled the house and my grandfather has been in and out of the hospital.
